Prof. Jesse Austin-Breneman
Jesse Austin-Breneman is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 from MIT. He also holds a S.M. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from MIT. Previous to his academic career, he worked as a development engineer in Peru, working with rural communities on alternative business opportunities and with local doctors’ groups on medical device development. He also spent two years as a high school mathematics teacher in Boston, MA. |
Suzanne Chou
Suzanne Chou is a Ph.D. student in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. She earned her B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015. She then worked for 9 months at LIM Innovations as an R&D Engineer, designing a novel prosthetic socket for children. She is currently working on design methodologies for emerging markets which incorporate designer context. |
Mojtaba Arezoomand
Mojtaba Arezoomand is a PhD. Student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He works on using optimization and machine learning techniques to create a framework for Design for Dynamic User Preferences. His work focuses on innovative applications of data science approaches to human-centered design. |
John Meluso
John Meluso is a Ph.D. student in Design Science at the University of Michigan who specializes in Systems Engineering and Sociology. His research interests include the study of Complex Systems, Management & Organizations, and Communication through a Sociolinguistic lens. Primary strengths include semi-structured interviews, surveys, agent-based modeling, and networks. Interested in organizational theory, complex systems, communication studies, gender & diversity studies, sociology, and engineering systems. |
